DriveRecall

Privacy Policy

How DriveRecall handles catalog information and support communications.

Version 1.0Last updated: September 11, 2026

MaveWay Utilities designed DriveRecall to work locally on your Windows PC.

DriveRecall does not require a DriveRecall account, does not use advertising or analytics, and does not send your drive catalogs to MaveWay Utilities.

This policy explains what information DriveRecall accesses, where that information is stored, what happens when you contact support, and how Microsoft Store purchases are handled.

1. Information DriveRecall accesses

DriveRecall catalogs information about files on external drives that you choose to catalog.

The catalog may include information such as:

  • filename;
  • original folder or path;
  • file extension;
  • file size;
  • modified date;
  • drive identity information; and
  • the friendly name you assign to a drive.

DriveRecall catalogs file information so you can later search the saved catalog and identify which drive contains a filename.

DriveRecall does not copy the contents of your files into its catalog.

Because filenames and folder names can sometimes contain names or other personal information, information stored in a DriveRecall catalog may itself be personal to you.

2. Local catalog storage

DriveRecall stores its catalogs locally on your Windows PC.

DriveRecall does not upload or synchronize those catalogs to MaveWay Utilities, and MaveWay Utilities does not have remote access to your DriveRecall catalogs.

DriveRecall does not require a MaveWay Utilities cloud service to store or search your catalogs.

The catalogs are protected by the normal security controls of your Windows device and Windows user account. You are responsible for maintaining appropriate security for your computer and Windows account.

3. Offline operation

DriveRecall is designed to operate locally.

After a drive has been cataloged, DriveRecall can search the saved local catalog even while the physical drive is disconnected.

This does not mean DriveRecall is accessing the unplugged drive. It is searching information that was previously saved in the local catalog.

The drive must be reconnected before DriveRecall can open the actual file or folder.

DriveRecall does not require a runtime network connection for its ordinary cataloging and search functions.

4. Telemetry, analytics, and advertising

DriveRecall does not include:

  • MaveWay Utilities telemetry;
  • usage analytics;
  • advertising;
  • advertising trackers;
  • a MaveWay Utilities user account;
  • cloud catalog storage; or
  • an external MaveWay Utilities API used during ordinary operation.

DriveRecall does not automatically send information about your filenames, folders, catalogs, or app usage to MaveWay Utilities.

5. Microsoft Store purchases

If you purchase or obtain DriveRecall through Microsoft Store, the Store transaction and associated Microsoft account, payment, licensing, installation, and purchase information are handled by Microsoft.

DriveRecall itself does not collect your payment-card details.

Information collected by Microsoft Store is governed by Microsoft’s own terms and privacy practices, not by this DriveRecall privacy policy.

Questions about Microsoft Store billing, payment, purchase history, or refund eligibility should be directed to Microsoft through the appropriate Microsoft Store support process.

6. Support communications

If you contact MaveWay Utilities for DriveRecall support, we may receive information that you choose to provide, such as:

  • your email address;
  • your DriveRecall version;
  • your Windows version;
  • the type of external drive involved;
  • a description of the issue;
  • an error message;
  • screenshots; or
  • other information you voluntarily include in your message.

Please do not send personal files, sensitive documents, passwords, account credentials, or other confidential information unless MaveWay Utilities specifically asks for information that is necessary to investigate a support issue.

DriveRecall does not automatically upload support information to MaveWay Utilities.

7. Diagnostics

DriveRecall may create diagnostic information locally on your PC to help identify application or cataloging problems.

DriveRecall does not automatically transmit diagnostic information to MaveWay Utilities.

If support asks you to provide diagnostic information, sending it is your choice. You should review anything you send and avoid including information that is not necessary for troubleshooting.

DriveRecall is designed so that ordinary diagnostics do not need to include your file contents.

8. How long information is kept

Local DriveRecall catalogs

Your DriveRecall catalogs remain stored locally on your PC until you remove them through DriveRecall or otherwise remove the associated local application data.

Removing a catalog from DriveRecall removes DriveRecall’s saved catalog information. It does not delete the files stored on the external drive.

Because the catalogs are stored on your computer rather than on MaveWay Utilities servers, MaveWay Utilities does not control their retention and cannot remotely delete them for you.

Local diagnostics

Diagnostic information created by DriveRecall remains local to your PC unless you choose to provide it to MaveWay Utilities for support.

Support communications

Support emails and other information you voluntarily provide to MaveWay Utilities may be retained for as long as reasonably necessary to:

  • respond to and resolve the support request;
  • maintain appropriate business records;
  • investigate recurring product problems;
  • prevent abuse or misuse; or
  • meet legal obligations.

Information that is no longer reasonably needed may be deleted.

Microsoft Store information

Microsoft determines how long Microsoft Store account, payment, purchase, licensing, and related information is retained. That information is governed by Microsoft’s policies rather than this policy.

9. Sharing of information

MaveWay Utilities does not receive your DriveRecall catalogs during ordinary use and therefore does not sell or share those catalogs with advertisers or data brokers.

Information you voluntarily provide when contacting support may be processed through ordinary service providers used to operate email, website hosting, or similar business services.

MaveWay Utilities may also disclose information when required by law or when reasonably necessary to protect the rights, safety, or security of MaveWay Utilities, its users, or others.

10. Your choices and controls

You control which external drives you choose to catalog.

You can:

  • remove a saved catalog using DriveRecall;
  • choose whether to update a catalog;
  • choose whether to send diagnostic or support information to MaveWay Utilities; and
  • choose what information to include when contacting support.

If you previously sent personal information to MaveWay Utilities through a support request, you may contact us to ask about that information or request its deletion, subject to applicable legal and reasonable recordkeeping requirements.

Microsoft Store account and purchase information should be managed through your Microsoft account and Microsoft Store.

11. Security

DriveRecall keeps its catalog data on your Windows PC and relies on the normal security protections of Windows and your user account.

MaveWay Utilities takes reasonable steps to protect support information that it receives. However, no computer system, email service, or method of electronic communication can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

You should protect your Windows account, device, external drives, and email account using security measures appropriate for your situation.

12. Changes to this policy

MaveWay Utilities may update this privacy policy if DriveRecall’s functionality, data practices, Store requirements, or applicable legal requirements change.

If the policy changes, the updated version will be posted on the MaveWay Utilities website with a revised “Last updated” date.

Any future DriveRecall feature that materially changes network access, telemetry, analytics, cloud storage, accounts, or the handling of user information will require this privacy policy to be reviewed and updated.
